Chapter Philanthropy and Service
Philanthropy and service is one of the many aspects that make membership in Zeta Tau Alpha selfless and rewarding. The feeling of being something bigger than ourselves and knowing we make a difference is irreplaceable. In accordance with our creed, we "prepare for service and learn the nobility of serving; thereby earning the right to be served".
As a chapter we contribute to our philanthropy by hosting philanthropy events each semester. In the spring, we host on a softball tournament called Batting out Breast Cancer on UNO's campus, and all proceeds go towards our philanthropy, Breast Cancer Education and Awareness, and Survivor Recognition.
In the fall, we have a month of events called Pinktober. Pinktober includes bake sales, Think Pink Bingo, and more! ZTA sponsors and attends the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk where we partner with the survivor's tent. We also attend NFL games to pass out ribbons and bring awareness to the community.
In addition to our own philanthropy, we participate in various community service events at least once a month. This past year, we went to the Ronald McDonald house, did campus clean-ups, made Easter cards for the elderly, and sent care-packages to the troops. We also pride ourselves in participating in service and philanthropy events with the other Greek organizations on campus.
As a chapter, we enjoy giving back to our community and helping those in need through our service events. We strive to have a positive impact on our community and those around us. We commit to our philanthropy of Breast Cancer Education and Awareness and hope to contribute to the fight against breast cancer with our greatest potential.
